Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about NowViralFeed's free Chrome extensions and the YouTube transcript tool.

Are all NowViralFeed Chrome extensions really free?+
Yes. Every extension on NowViralFeed is 100% free with no subscriptions, no premium tiers, and no hidden fees. We believe powerful browser tools should be accessible to everyone regardless of budget. We do not feature freemium tools that lock core features behind a paywall. Free means free — no credit card, no trial period, no usage limits. We sustain the site through display advertising, not by charging users.
Do I need to create an account to use these Chrome extensions?+
No account needed. None of the free Chrome extensions we feature require you to create an account, sign up, or provide any personal information. Click the Get Extension button, confirm in the Chrome Web Store dialog, and the extension installs immediately. You can start using it right away. We do not require signup, login, or email verification — ever.
Are NowViralFeed Chrome extensions safe to install?+
Yes. All extensions we feature are published on the official Chrome Web Store, which reviews extensions for malware, policy compliance, and security risks before listing them. Our extensions do not collect personal data, do not access your browsing history without permission, and do not send information to external servers beyond what is necessary for their stated function. That said, we always recommend reviewing an extension's requested permissions before installing — and uninstalling any extension you no longer use. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Which browsers are compatible with NowViralFeed extensions?+
Our extensions are primarily built for Google Chrome. They also work on most Chromium-based browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi — simply visit the Chrome Web Store from those browsers and install normally. Firefox and Safari are not currently supported, as our extensions use Chrome-specific APIs. We may add Firefox support for future extensions.
How do I install a free Chrome extension from NowViralFeed?+
Click the "Get Extension" or "Add to Chrome" button on any extension page. You will be taken to the Chrome Web Store listing for that extension. On the store page, click the blue "Add to Chrome" button. A confirmation dialog will appear listing the permissions the extension needs — review them and click "Add Extension" to confirm. The extension installs automatically and appears in your Chrome toolbar immediately. The whole process takes under 30 seconds and requires no account.
How do I uninstall or remove a Chrome extension?+
Right-click the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar and select "Remove from Chrome." A confirmation dialog will appear — click "Remove" to uninstall. Alternatively, go to chrome://extensions in your browser's address bar, find the extension in the list, and click the "Remove" button. The extension and all its local data will be deleted from your browser immediately. If the extension icon is not visible in your toolbar, click the puzzle piece icon to see all installed extensions.
Does the YouTube Transcript Extractor work on all YouTube videos?+
The YouTube Transcript Extractor works on any YouTube video that has captions enabled — including auto-generated captions. The vast majority of YouTube videos have auto-generated captions available in English and often other languages. Videos where the creator has completely disabled captions, or very new uploads where auto-captions have not yet been generated, will not have a transcript available. This is a YouTube limitation, not an extension limitation — no tool can extract a transcript that does not exist.
Why can't I find a transcript for some YouTube videos?+
There are a few reasons a YouTube video may not have a transcript available: the creator manually disabled captions; the video was just uploaded and YouTube's auto-caption system has not processed it yet (this can take a few hours); the video is a live stream that has not been archived with captions; or the video is very short and has no captions. In all these cases, no transcript tool — including ours — can extract a transcript, because the underlying data simply does not exist in YouTube's system.
Do NowViralFeed extensions collect my personal data?+
No. Our Chrome extensions do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. All processing happens locally inside your browser. The YouTube Transcript Extractor reads caption data directly from YouTube's own caption files within your browser session — no transcript data is sent to NowViralFeed servers. The NowViralFeed website uses Google Analytics (anonymized) to understand traffic patterns, and Google AdSense to display advertisements. Neither service collects personally identifiable information without your consent. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
How do I report a bug or request a new free Chrome extension?+
Use our Contact page to reach us directly. For bug reports, please include: the name of the extension, what you were trying to do, what happened instead, your Chrome version (found at chrome://settings/help), and your operating system. For extension requests, include the extension name and its Chrome Web Store URL. We evaluate all suggestions and will let you know if we feature it. Email us directly at hello@nowviralfeed.com — we read every message.
Will these Chrome extensions slow down my browser?+
No. Our extensions are lightweight and designed to activate only when you use them — not to run continuously in the background. The YouTube Transcript Extractor, for example, only runs when you are actively on a YouTube video page and click the extension. It does not monitor your browsing activity, run background processes, or load resources on pages unrelated to its function. Well-built Chrome extensions have minimal measurable impact on browser performance.
How often are free Chrome extensions updated?+
We update our extensions as YouTube's platform changes, when we add new features based on user feedback, or when security improvements are needed. Chrome extensions update automatically through the Chrome Web Store — you do not need to manually reinstall. You can always see the current version of any extension at chrome://extensions. We add new extensions to the NowViralFeed directory regularly. Check back periodically or bookmark the site.
